Islander? (2005)
A drawing series responding to materials and items which speak to a relationship with the Pacific, recalling Stevenson’s childhood in Solomon Islands and the Pacific culture around her in Auckland, New Zealand. Repeated motifs and modes of making re-occur across the images which incorporate stitching, perforations, collage and beading. The series was exhibited in the survey show “Drawing out of Exile” at Te Tuhi gallery, Auckland.
